Praise for: Manual for Interior Souls

Happy New Year Everyone!

Once again a book came my way which, on being read, turned out to be just the sort of thing I (without ever having expressed it) desired. Manual for Interior Souls by Father Jean Grou. I would reccomend it for those who so love the saints and the stories of the saints that they are often are in coversation with these holy men and women who are close to Christ.

Here is an exerpt:

On the True Liberty of the Children of God
"It is a thing which sounds like a paradox, but which is nevertheless true, with a most exact truth, that of all the persons who serve God, those are the most free, indeed it might be said the only really free, who allow themselves to be guided entirely and in everything by the Spirit of God, and whom St. Paul calls, for that reason the children, the children of God.”Those," he says. "who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God."

I wish I could share more, but there is so much which is plainly and beautifully said in this book. This is one to read and donate to your parish library.

Winds of Change

I am changing. A very good friend of mine said so. In a way I hear this with some sadness, though I think, it might be some kind of selfishness too, from this sadness, to not desire any change at all. Change for the better should always be desired because We Are in need of perfecting, we have a destiny-a destination-a goal we are called to reach. We may not know personally what we are "called" to accomplish in ourselves and in this world, particularly, at this moment, yet, as I know it, we are meant to know Happiness. It is this happiness that is in the deepest part of all our desires, so, it is This Happiness I wish to change myself for. Indeed Happiness is the "better" which, I hope, I am changing into. For, the more I change for the better, the more I experience Happiness-experience those few bittersweet moments of joy, the more I feel when, for me, change, evolution, time come to an end I might be ready to see Happiness face-to face-in all His splendor. Nothing matters as much as that to me, yet, that good friend is very dear to me. God bless us everyone! JMJ

A Prayer of Saint Thomas Aquinas

Give me, O Lord God, a watchful heart which no vain thoughts can distract from you. Give me a generous heart which no unworthy affection can draw downward. Give me an upright heart which no dishonourable intention can lead away from you. Give me a firm heart which no hardship can crush. Give me a free heart which no unruly emotion can claim for its own; Through Christ our Lord.
Amen

Praise Where Praise is Due.

Thanks be to God!

Hello!

I think I am going to revamp my blog. Oddly enough, it is exactly a year after my first blog post. I started this blog with the intention of saving culture, sharing joy, and highlighting humanity in all its wonder. I can't say I'm much of a writer so I started with posting quotes (which I collect profusely). The beginning is the best place to start for human beings, since we all have at least one. With this thought I began with the beginning. I didn't get that far. I have not even finished The Elegant Universe yet (it is on my half-way-through list), but I will give a list of some of the books I have finished. Since we didn't get far with the beginning I will begin again, not without it, but just with it laid to the side to come back to. Till my next post then? Alright! God Bless. Goodnight.
